Professional background

Isabelle Odermatt joined the CHESS team in summer 2021, working in the area of continuing education. She supports CHESS in the development and delivery of engaging, target-group-oriented continuing education programs. These include internal training and consulting services of the UZH Leadership and Governance Academy for professors at the University of Zurich, as well as serving as Program Director for the CAS in Leadership and Governance in Higher Education.

Isabelle Odermatt studied psychology and minored in business administration at the University of Zurich and subsequently earned her doctorate at the Department of Psychology of the University of Zurich (2013). In her PhD, she focused on team processes (communication processes, leadership in teams). Since her PhD, she has been working as a research associate at the Chair of Work and Organizational Psychology and has thus been able to acquire a diverse expertise in various topics related to personnel psychology (e.g., personnel selection, personnel development and training, leadership). In addition, she has repeatedly worked as a subject matter expert in practice (e.g. certifications of assessment centers in collaboration with Swiss Assessment and SQS). Currently, in addition to her position at CHESS, she continues to work as a research project staff member at the Chair of Work and Organizational Psychology. There she is co-responsible for the implementation of the project «Berufungsverfahren: Interview zur Einschätzung von Führungskompetenzen und Bereitschaft für ein Engagement in der akademischen Selbstverwaltung». This project addresses the professionalization of selection interviews in appointment procedures.
