Consulting by CHESS members
The members of CHESS have a shared interest in issues of higher education and science development, which is reflected in a variety of activities. Members give lectures, undertake projects, and/or contribute their expertise to committees in addition to working on their research and publications which focus on self-reflection.

Posts and mandates of members
Members of CHESS include elected university councillors and a member of the Zurich Board of Education. Members simultaneously serve on committees and / or hold offices in various areas of academic self-government, research management, and science communication.

- Prof. Dr. Katja Rost is the president of the vice president of the Universitätsrat
at the University of Lucerne. - Prof. Dr. Lucien Criblez is a member of the Fachhochschulrat.
- Prof. Dr. Mike Schäfer is the president of the AGORA Kommission of the SNF as well as the speaker of the Expertengruppe Wissenschaftskommission of the Akademien Schweiz.
- Prof. Dr. Uschi Backes-Geller is Director of the Swiss Leading House VPET-ECON.
- Prof. Dr. Agnes Bäker is a board member of Health Economics Research Amsterdam (HERA).
- Prof. Heinz Bonfadelli is leading member of theInstituts für angewandte Kommunikationsforschung (iakom).
- Prof. Dr. Ottfried Jarren is a member of theForschungsrat der Universität Hamburg
- Prof. Dr. Julia Metag is a member of the advisory board of thedes deutschen Wissenschaftsbarometers and a member of the scientific advisory board of theProfessional School der Universität Münster.
- Prof. Dr. Michael Ochsner acted as a consultant for a Swiss city, the Swiss Science Council, the Swiss National Science Foundation, the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT) and the Macedonian Ministry of Education and Science.
- Claudia Peus is a member of the Kuratorium der Wertekommissionand was part of the scientific advisory board ofBuWiK 2025.
- Dr. Carole Probst has been a partner and member of the executive management of econcept since 2025.
- Prof. Dr. Walther Ch. Zimmerli is a member of the Executive Committee of theInter University Center (IUC) Dubrovnik.
