CHESS lecture "Public trust in scientists: Insights from a global survey and learnings for Switzerland" 26. Nov. 2026
Scientific knowledge shapes key societal decisions, but science also depends on public trust. A global survey of over 70,000 people in 68 countries examined trust in scientists and expectations of their role in society and policymaking. Viktoria Cologna and Niels G. Was steckt hinter dem Begriff der digitalen Souveränität, der nach jahrzehntelangen Abhängigkeiten von US-amerikanischen Technologiekonzernen weit oben auf der wirtschaftlichen, gesellschaftlichen und politischen Agenda steht? Prof. Dr. Matthias Stürmer macht dies anhand der Auswirkungen auf die Hochschulen und die wissenschaftliche Praxis fest. CHESS talk "Why and How the Ig Nobel Prize Ceremony is Moving to Europe" 24. April 2026
The (in)famous Ig Nobel Prizes are relocating from the US to Zurich in 2026. The Prizes honor research that makes people first laugh & then think, from studies on scientists licking rocks to research suggesting pizza is healthy – when eaten in Italy.
Before the ceremony arrives in Zurich in September, CHESS will host a talk by Marc Abrahams, founder of the Ig Nobel Prize, at UZH. Marc will discuss why and how the ceremony is moving to Europe and how you can be part of it. Flyer (PDF, 90 KB)
